Gee, it’s been almost a year since I said I’d have a little quiet time. The rest has done me a lot of good.
I’ve decided to stick to just two kits, the Four Eyes kit (while I can get parts) and the Trailer Isolator (though this is likely to go).
I’m doing other things and enjoying them. Having to come to the bench is not as good as wanting to come to the bench, so production has pretty well stopped.
I have parts for a few Four Eyes kits which I will make up, with a view to not making any more this year, and I have some of the parts I need to make up one Trailer Isolator, possibly the last one.
It might be that I’ll close this site altogether. If so, I’ll still happily support those who have bought my kits into the indefinite future.
Hi Mate,
Can you still supply the 4 eyes kit for Spyder RS (2010)?
Baz
Hi “Pogo”…just been talking to one of your customers (stephen moore in Yeovil, Uk) about yourFOUR EYES cables for the Spyder RT (2016)….Are you able to supply a set to me in the UK?… Regards.. Brian
Happy to send you a kit, Brian. Postage from Oz makes it a bit pricey, about GBP45 all up.
I keep getting bounces from your email. I’m hoping you read this and send me a working address.
Pogo.
Hi mate
I’m in Sydney
I’m told on FB that your 4eye kit works well.
Can you please call me on ********** to discuss this?
It’s strange that in USA the headlights have high and low beam, the outer lights are classed as fog lights. Here in Australia we have the fog lights working as headlights and the headlights as a high beam only.
Can’t we have all lights ON at the same time as in the US?
I believe you have the answer.
Cheers
Joe
You shouldn’t believe everything you read on FB.
The US have a totally different system. The standard headlights are a single filament with a solenoid actuated shutter to cut off the beam to the left on low beam. Because both the high beam and low beam come from the same units, they can only see that narrow stripe straight ahead. They can fit fog lights where we have our low beam, but there are restrictions on brightness and beam shape that make these less effective than our low beam (but probably more effective in fog).
The thing to watch with all the headlights on at once is current draw. If you simply wire the high beam and low beam to come on together, you draw twice as much current through the headlight fuse, reducing the safety margin. If that fuse blows, you are riding in the dark. On top of that, the total draw of all four headlights is nearly half the total output of the alternator. The power steering draws about that much current, so a long ride down a winding road with all four lights on would be draining your battery.
My kit allows you to use all four beams when you need them, and the standard low beams otherwise. It uses a separately fused circuit so that if it should fail, the standard lights still work. Instead of just the bright beam straight ahead at night, you get the broad spread of the low beam to help you see the lurking furry death on the side of the road or just how tight the corner is.
Thanks for the info
How much is your kit? and will it effect the warranty as I have a 2019 F3T?
